My
name is Wanda Heldt. Welcome to Silver Star Wanda'rers.
I was born in Burma
and was
11 years old when my family moved to the UK. This was where I met
my husband, Don and we migrated to Perth, Western Australia in 1976. I
did a course in Fashion Design as a hobby, then worked as a security
officer at the Perth International Airport.
I have always loved
dancing, though my husband, unfortunately did not, therefore I took up Line
Dancing! BEST THING EVER! I must add that he always gives me 110%
support in all aspects of my dancing and all my other projects.
I have been Line Dancing now for
about 13 years and started teaching about 5.1/2 years ago because of my
friend, Chu who encouraged me. She had great confidence in my
ability to teach and I have not looked back since. "Thank you
Chu". From there it was a natural progression to form my
own club, the Silver Star Wanda'rers, and start choreographing my own
dances.
My main goal is to
provide a relaxed and happy atmosphere where people can learn at their own
pace without pressure, but most of all that my students and I have
fun. I enjoy teaching and the challenges that it brings.
Through line
dancing I have met some
really lovely people, including Linda Morris. Linda has been helping
me to teach for the last 2.1/2 years and has become not only my very best
friend, but also a vital part of the Silver Star Wanda'rers. Another
great friend is Liz Smith, who has designed and set up this
website. I have to thank these two wonderful ladies so much for their time
and talents. Last, but certainly not least, I would also like to mention
my students who are always willing to pitch in to help in any way
they can. I love and appreciate them all - I could not achieve my
dream without them. We have a lot of fun in class and also enjoy each
others company out of class too; for dinners, socials and holidays.
So folks; Be
Brave, just Keep On Dancing and No Matter What have a Champagne
On Ice and a Soft Place to Fall!
Thank you for visiting,
God Bless,
Wanda
